A gentlemen's game: Snooker

Yes, my next (almost) ex-hobby inline is snooker. Now I'm not going to explain the rules or anything but just my personal experience I have with the 'sport'.

Begin
A friend of mine started playing in competition and asked me to practice with him a few times a month. After a couple games I got the hang of it and thought it was pretty fun! So the year after that, I joined the compitition and started in to snooker in a team. My first match went horribly! I could feel the pressure for every shot I took and I wasn't used to this so couldn' pot for sh*t. The year after that went a lot better and we got 3rd place.

Compitition
Now most of you know Snooker from a TV (I hope), a 1 vs 1 match. But that's only on a high level. We play a 3 vs 3 match. So there's 9 matches in total and you'll have to play against everyone from the opposing team. This can be good but also bad. And for me it's one of the reasons I'm not going to snooker anymore.
Like I said: 9 matches in total, every match can last from 20 to +60 minutes. Most of the time there's only one table available per match because there other teams playing too. So we play every 2 turns.

Positive, if you played a crappy match, you have some time to cool off and relax a bit so you're ready for your next match.
Negative: sometimes you'll have to wait 2 hours before you can play because your other 2 players on your team have difficult matches. So in a worst case scenario the total 'waiting' time of an evening can be 4 hours, and playing time 1.5 hours...
That's a big reason for me to stop, I like playing it WHEN I'm playing it. Not waiting and most of the time drinking the time away :D

I don't regret playing in comptition because I learned tons of new people and  I can kick ass in pool now.

Here a little vid witch one of the best snooker players ever!

  9. A pool is the main weapon you have in hand to win the pool war against other players. You might carry a best brand pool cue to a pool hall or pick one from the cue rack. In both the cases, you must know the art to have the perfect pool in your hand.
