Quick Song post

I'm not really a fan of just posting a song on my blog. But I got the day off today, the sun is shining, I just woke up and I need a song to get the day going!
Two great songs of the same band: Caravan palace, an electro swing/jazz band! Hope you like!

A gentlemen's game: Snooker

Yes, my next (almost) ex-hobby inline is snooker. Now I'm not going to explain the rules or anything but just my personal experience I have with the 'sport'.

Begin
A friend of mine started playing in competition and asked me to practice with him a few times a month. After a couple games I got the hang of it and thought it was pretty fun! So the year after that, I joined the compitition and started in to snooker in a team. My first match went horribly! I could feel the pressure for every shot I took and I wasn't used to this so couldn' pot for sh*t. The year after that went a lot better and we got 3rd place.

Compitition
Now most of you know Snooker from a TV (I hope), a 1 vs 1 match. But that's only on a high level. We play a 3 vs 3 match. So there's 9 matches in total and you'll have to play against everyone from the opposing team. This can be good but also bad. And for me it's one of the reasons I'm not going to snooker anymore.
Like I said: 9 matches in total, every match can last from 20 to +60 minutes. Most of the time there's only one table available per match because there other teams playing too. So we play every 2 turns.

Positive, if you played a crappy match, you have some time to cool off and relax a bit so you're ready for your next match.
Negative: sometimes you'll have to wait 2 hours before you can play because your other 2 players on your team have difficult matches. So in a worst case scenario the total 'waiting' time of an evening can be 4 hours, and playing time 1.5 hours...
That's a big reason for me to stop, I like playing it WHEN I'm playing it. Not waiting and most of the time drinking the time away :D

I don't regret playing in comptition because I learned tons of new people and  I can kick ass in pool now.

Here a little vid witch one of the best snooker players ever!

Origami

what's that? it's the traditional Japanese art of paper folding.
Why am I posting this? Because it was one of my hobbies.

I did it some years back and I really liked it. It was relaxing in a way, I put on some music (no tv because you have to concentrate) and started folding!
Why did I quit? Well, with most of my hobbies, if I do something, I do it non stop and most of the time I get bored of it real quick. Occasionally I still do origami ( to impress girls : D )
So here are some pics of some origami of mine (cell phone quality)
Modular origami
 This too :)

Free Time - Money

When I was a student, I had loads of free time. And my thought of spending it was doing almost every day the same. Watching some movies, doing a couple of my hobbies, go out once a week and that's it.

But now x years later I'm working. And I had never thougt that I would be this exited every time the workweek is over and it's time for some weekend fun. But the problem is I want to make as much as fun as possible in a weekend. rather than how I used to spend my weekends just hanging out with some friends.
Going to clubs friday and saturday. Sometimes even sunday afternoon. Going to the movies, bowling, buying some gadgets,... As you can see, not very healthy for my bankaccount...

It's not that I wasn't saving. It's just that I was spending money on some useless things (but fun!!).
Currently I'm trying to find the balance between saving and having fun. But I feel if don't spend my whole weekend doing something, It's a weekend wasted and the weekend is over before you know it.

For me personally, I only work because I have to work. Everybody expects it and I'm too much of a pussy to go against it. It's not that I don't like my job, but I feel I can do 'greater' things rather than making a company some money.
I'm still young, so I hope I get the guts to change my lifestyle somewhat and do the things I feel like I should be doing!

HCG diet?

Lately, all i'm hearing and seeing is hcg diet. My fb is full of posts with it and I actually never heard of it.
Since i'm currently dieting, I tought to make a little post of it so I can get some opinions about it!

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin: a hormone produced during pregnancy by the cells that form the placenta. aka they extract it from women piss.
What it does in the body: HCG signals the hypothalamus to mobilize fat stores. In pregnancy, this helps the body bring nutrients into the placenta, fueling the fetus with the energy to grow.

They say you have to combine hcg with a 500 cal diet. It's ridiculous how low that is. Off course you'll lose weight if you eat almost nothing but the thing is that you won't fell hungry. Hcg takes your fat to produce the energy you need.

Ok, Now I read a bunch of studies, and all of those studies say that it doesn't work. I see posts saying that it's illegal in Belgium and 5 mins late I see posts saying that you can get a refund from your healthcare... (this shit is expensive)

So why do I see tons and tons of post from people saying it does work??

btw: I will never use anything like pills/injections to lose weight. Sports and a new eating manners are the way to go. A bit slower but healthy!!

Daily beer!!

A little post which some of my favorite beers!
Let me first say: I'm Flemish and yes, we do drink a lot of beer ^^
So a post about beers is only naturel!

my Top (strong) beers:
  • Tripel Karmeliet: Very refined beer with a nice creamy collar! Starts a bit sweet and ends in mild bitter taste! also I ilke the french lily on the glass!
  • La Chouffe: A Fruity beer that's 'easy' to drink because it tastes fresh. I can drink this beer perfect with a dinner.
  • Sint Bernardus Abt 12: My first dark beer in this post. It's got a pretty high alcohol % but the original flavor keeps the upperhand. Got a nice ftuiry aroma and is one of the best 'replacements' if you want to drink 'Westvleteren'

My Actual Daily beer is Christal Alken and Jupiler! Nothing tastes better on a hot day.
